Electric cutouts

Hey so this is my first post and I have been researching electric cutouts for my sierra. It seems like a pretty good way to make my truck louder. I already have custom exhaust but I'm not sure what exactly since it was on the truck when I bought it. It sounds good but the cutout just sound so mean to me and I like the idea of having it loud and quieter on a switch. These seemed to have good reviews http://www.dmhperformance.com/ecutout.htm

So just looking for some opinions and thoughts, thanks! :D

Found this video that should show what it sounds like and I'm from a pretty rural area where its all big loud trucks so I'm just trying to compete lol and I checked my muffler is welded on. Honestly I probably would only open it to show off

Ha! My neighbor, Ralph E., use to have some of them on his Lowered and Channeled 48 Merc. It also had the big Moons and lots of louvers. This was back in the late 50s. He would switch his Lake pipes into action with the flip of a switch. The ones he had didn't seal well, and leaked exhaust like crazy, and he eventually just put the caps back on his Lake pipes. When they were closed, the Smithy's on the car were just about as loud anyway, especially when he would shut off the key, pump the throttle a few times, and then hit the button that activated the Model A Coil which was wired to a spark plug in the exhaust pipe. He would light off that raw gas in front of our house just to show off for my sister .. my dad never thought it was funny.

I run an electric cutout on the factory catback on my 6.2 and love it. Driving back and forth to work it sounds like a stock truck, but if I feel like goofing around I can open/close it from a switch in the cab.

Ya thats what I like about them I plan on ordering for quick time performance since DMH seems to have disappeared.

Thats awesome did you run the switch into your cab or buy the wireless kit? I think I'm gonna do the wireless just because I don't want to cut anything for the switch

If it was 2 years ago and i wanted to sneak out and have a nice sounding truck, id like to have some of these haha
Yup thats the idea, in my town the local cops could care less about loud or big trucks as long as your not driving dangerous its the occasional trooper that rolls through that gives people a hard time. One of them brought out his scanner for my legal windows and seemed very unsatisfied when he couldn't write me a ticket

Its just a valve that either directs the exhaust through the muffler and allows the the truck to be quiet (depending on muffler) or diverts it directly out, avoiding the muffler so the truck is loud and in muffled.

What do these cut out's do exactly? They rotate in your exhaust and will allow it to be louder or quieter correct? They direct airflow through the muffler, or something else? I'm not understanding.
So basically it is a y shaped pipe that replaces a small peice of exhaust pipe between you cats and your muffler that has an opening on one side. You can either use a manual screw on plate or most companies offer the electric opening that on the push of a button basically gives you the sound of having no muffler. For one with no electric part I found some for $50 the quick time perfromance one I'm buying is $220. Here is a picture of one installed but I'm not sure the brand here

So I finally had mine installed at meineke today, $220 for the pipe and motor, $80 for the optional wireless kit, and a $50 fee for the welding . Let me tell you guys, ITS LOUD. At idle is sound really nice and deep and low rpm acceleration sounds great but its the higher rpms where I don't notice as much of a difference I think its because my motor is so loud already that high that it seems more normal at least in the cab. My friends said it sounded pretty mean on the drivebys I did. My buddy should be wiring in the electric flap tomorrow so tonight I just drove with it off and loved it =D Once I get the motor on I'll take some videos to share
